Match Report | Snhc ladies vs Ashfield Aztecs 26-1-19 A most fascinating game which ebbed and flowed at a very high pace. Aztecs opened with torrid attacks which were calmly shut down by Mel but if a ball squirted past her they had Elizabeth's Rock of Gibraltar to deal with. The defence team of Jo, Scarlett and Alice identified weaknesses in the Aztec attack and started to create forward movement by a constant flow of well constructed passes to our midfield and forward lines. Katrina, Caroline and Louise started to drive attacks, spear heading into the very heart of the Aztec defence. The forwards Beth, Ruby, Emma and Becky / Kate kept positions in touch with midfield to collect passes and to help shut down Aztec attacks before they got going. Attacks on the Aztecs goal from all angles increased in frequency and angle. Louise rifled in a shot to sting the backboard, Beth wrong footed a defender to score a sophisticated goal and Emma darted through a gap in the Aztecs defence to poach yet another skilful addition to the score sheet. 3-0 but Aztecs stormed back with a cracking goal and threatened more. It was not an easy win but the highly competent unflappability of our defence profile made our 3-1 win sweet to the taste. |
