WB 2 South 3, an unbeaten South 2s rolled into WB with something to defend against an ever improving WB team. The game started well for South with some simple but effective hockey the skipper opening the scoring early. Bridgford then seemed to be overloading the midfield as the defence, marshalled excellently by the sophisticated Brydon and the rustic Pinkney, found themselves increasingly stretched. During this period our excellent keeper Dan started to show his man of the match credentials by a string of excellent saves. Despite this pressure WB were unable to convert, and against the run Alex scored a sucker punch goal to put us 2 up at halftime. A series of tough speeches tried to rouse South for their strangely subdued state to no avail as we started the second by continuing to give up possession to our thankfully profligate opponents! A well deserved goal put the oppo back in touch as Dan continued to produce heroics and Brydon was the only south player able to find a white shirt with faultless distribution from the back! Again, skipper converted his only chance of the half to make it 3-1, a complete travesty! Bridgford scored a second but with the Brydon/Pinkney and Slinger axis staying solid we managed to mug our poor opponents for all 3 points!
