23-3-2019 Snhc 2’s vs Beeston 6’s
The mighty twos arrived at Beeston with a plan that had two parts to it. Firstly, be stubborn and pose problems for their high flying opponents and secondly, ensure our intrepid skipper Grozzy, completed the amazing achievement of scoring against every team played this season.
While waiting to start, the team resembled a group of wounded soldiers stomping home after conflict. There weren’t many of the team not carrying injuries, in addition to that, club legend Pinky further boosted morale by telling us he had dropped some of the younger players from his team who started against us!
The team worked hard and prevented too many chances in an obdurate first half performance. Any chance that the oppo created Tommy was in top form. Man of the match Mark W was well tested but stood tall against the waves of attack. We also had some chances and short corners.
Going in at halftime only one team was satisfied!
Beeston scored first, then Grozzy, from another class pass from Gary was given a penalty flick! Typical nerveless finish from skip completed his odyssey. Oppo scored again then Grozzy replied with an amazing volley off the post!
From mid half onwards injuries, indiscipline and tiredness crept in to the team. Elliot had given everything, Sharpie had owned central midfield and even beaten their whole team one handed and Batty had shown their youngsters (from a static position) the quality of passing and tackling. The oppo had had a tough game and were relieved to win, the score didn’t reflect how close the game was!
6-2 loss but a win for the performance
