South 1’s vs North Notts

Two wins from the previous two weeks had given South great confidence as they faced rivals North Notts this week.

Using a new 4-3-3, South looked to be disciplined in defence and pour forward in attack. So it proved as we played arguably the best half of hockey so far this season. Goals from Nathan, Tom and a drag from Matty put South 3-0 up in a scintillating first half performance.

Despite the oppo’s best efforts to unsettle South with some questionable tackling and verbals, we continued strongly in the second half; Nathan adding another to make it 4-0. At this point legs were becoming tired in midfield and our intensity dipped briefly, allowing North Notts to pull one back.

However, South showed their character yet again and took a 5th goal, Nathan completing a hat trick of tap ins that Ken and Grozzy would be purring over.
