Match Report | South Nottingham 1’s vs Mansfield 1’s Heroics were seen before the game even began today with players clearing the pitch of snow to make it playable, special thanks to Mansfield for helping out but how South were rewarded for their efforts.. South learnt they were without a keeper two minutes before push back so big Andy Wallace stepped in at kicking back what came next was frankly the finest team performance of the season by a country mile. Mansfield tried to play high and finish the game fast by taking advantage of having no keeper to beat. However it was South that created the best chances with pacy breakaways and took a deserved lead through Tom Crosslands fine finish into the top corner it could well have been 5-0 at half time, but South were profligate in front of goal (tut tut Nathan). Resolute and brave defending saw us to half time with our lead in intact. The expected pressure came from Mansfield as well as their goal, a duffed deflection that even the Adonis that is Gaz Rich couldn’t keep out. Gaz himself was joined by Matty, Jim, Fletcher and Andy as rocks at the back showing unbelievable skill and bravery to keep Mansfield out. Despite this, South kept threatening and were rewarding with a flick which Brainz despatched to make it 2-1. From here it could’ve been more (tut tut Nathan) however it turned out to be enough. Tired legs and heads worked their socks off to the whistle and claimed all three points in the finest win in most of our times at the club on to Boots next week, awesome to a man lads Mom - Gaz Rich Special shout out to Toby for helping clear the pitch!
