Match Report | South Nottingham 1’s vs West Bridgford 3’s Following last weeks frustrating draw, South faced another team who we felt we owed one to in the shape of West Bridgford. Matty stepped into midfield to replace the missing B and South had a strong looking line up. The game actually began with WB on top and testing our resolve in the warm weather. Despite early dominance though, Sam was forced only into one save and to be honest, this was the extent of his work for the afternoon. South grew quickly into the game with some slick passing and pressing carving out far more clear cut chances than their visitors. The best of these fell to Gaz Rich who contrived to miss from a yard out with the goal gaping; we can only assume shock from pram shopping take 3 is the culprit South did however take the lead on the stroke of half time. Tom P slid an unwittingly wonderful (we know you didn’t mean it) ball through to Tom Crossland who rounded the defender and laid it off for Stu Mills to slip past the keeper and put South 1-0 up at the break. WB came out strong in the second half but yet again failed to create any clear cut chances and their profligacy from short corners was to cost them. South looked menacing on the break and following another lightning quick breakaway, Crossland was played in by the skipper and cooly flicked it past the on rushing keeper. 2-0 . From here South showed great legs (you beautiful people) to continue to harry and shut down WB for the remainder of the game, with the outstanding Joe Waldman marshalling the back line in the manner of Gandalf. WB certainly, would not get past 2-0 the final score, an excellent all round performance and plenty to take into the rest of the season kids Mom - Joe Waldman |
