Match Report | 16-3-19Match Report South Nottingham 3s vs Ashby 4s. Last Game of the season were we in with a chance? Of course we were!!! Push off started lively amidst a blustery grey day away at Ashby. It was a game of high standards from both teams. The first half was largely a battle for midfield but the Ashby attackers were flying with the wind and some misjudged goalkeeping was outmanoeuvred and a quick one-two saw South go one nil down early on. South Notts had fire and determination keeping them going and hungry for some revenge. Lo and behold, a senior substitution brought the magic to the pitch and Ken injected some umph into the spine of South Notts attack and there was a sudden turn of events. And our youngsters banged home a scorcher to level the results. 1-1 and still damn windy on a slow and sluggish pitch. The spectators started turning up and so did our play. Defensively Tony, Graham, Adam and Jason were solid enough to hold off the resilient attackers and short corners and South Notts held out until the second half. Second half begins, wind in our favour and we are giving it some! We’re exploring some creative passes and untouched areas of the pitch but goal by goal our concessions were holding us back. A textbook low smash saw Ashby go 2-1 up and we could feel the strain at the back. Nevertheless the lads put in a shift all over the pitch. Reece was taring up the Left and right wings, Sam was unbelievably busy in midfield with Fin who were getting stuck in against the Ashby seniors and Henry was digging in defence and also ramping up the attack. The luck of the day was still going to Ashby with more goals finding the back of the net but that didn’t stop Mark and James putting in a shift to be proud of! Not 100% sure what the final score was but we very nearly had it Gents and Gentlads! 10 out of 10 for Adam’s slide tackles and umpire appeals from flat on his back. That’s some ambition we should all be inspired by! Promising auspices for next season. Keep up the good work everybody! |
