Match Report | South Nottingham 1’s v North Notts 2’s Stuart Mills reports Mr Mills missed the start........in his report he asked for team input....... *Someone needs to add* (sadly it seems none of Stu’s team mates could remember what happened either, even though they were asked several times!) sorry Mr Mills great rest of match report!!!!! With the score at 1-1, Tom Crossland, who was slotting into a centre midfield role, drove through the North Notts defence to slot fire home to give 10 man South the lead before half time. At half time, South took a breath knowing that all 10 of them had given their all and the message was simple...keep it simple. North Notts came out of the blocks firing early in the second half and were repelled by some excellent last ditch tackles from Fletch, Will, Tom and Jim. South suddenly found themselves unable to get possession in the North Notts half and finally the pressure told. A flick from the North Notts striker was well saved by Tommy Hall but there was nothing he could do from the rebound as North Notts equalised. With the scores level, North Notts were buoyed and playing 50 minutes with 10 men had taken its toll on South. Again a well worked short saw North Notts take the lead and they soon made it 4-2. But South have made a habit of not giving up this year and they weren’t done yet. A well worked play from the midfield and Harry saw the tireless skipper Gaz Bland just fire wide. A great effort from Tommy C was well saved by the North Notts keeper. The late arriving Stephen was quick to take his chance in the game with an incredibly well taken reverse stick effort finding the bottom corner. South gave this everything and were unlucky not to level when great play from Mikey saw another great save from the North Notts keeper before an audacious flick from Carlos rattled against the bar. However the experience of the North Notts side saw them home with a smart counter to secure the three points and a 5-3 victory. At the final whistle, South trudged off disappointed. From what I watched all South players had given their all and put in a shift for the side, that was missing a number of players with injuries and other commitments. It shows what a competitive league this is and South can’t take any opponent for granted. |
