Match report - when you turn up with no shin pads and improvise with insoles against a agricultural team you know it could be a long day...... it was a game of 2 halves and ultimately a fortuitous strike to decide....game started and new system but found wanting and conceded early short corner and straight shot and 1 down and then became worse when another short corner slightly mishit edged off my stick and in....... after weathering the period we saw out the half then things started to happen we got some shape and drive and started to get a strangle hold on the game.... despite the umpires best attempts to confuse everyone including themselves. A lucky bounce through and grozzy to finish and soon 1 goal became a second...... as we seemed to get a balance and their threat diminished as we snuffed out their chances despite their best attempts to injure everyone on the pitch and then confusion a short that comes out and just as Jon was about to take the roof off the net whistle for a short again? Hmm it’s called an advantage.... then a break down as needlessly gave ball away with a minute left they attack, did well to move my stick with his foot out of the way to create their chance. To be fair the female umpire was good and consistent and it was the letter of the new rules creating much disdain to us older ones but victory with sourness was theirs. Lessons learnt a plenty we need to stick to strengths and the game plan so nearly came off.
3-2 to the opposition
