Match Report

After last weeks storming win against Derwent, the mightly 3's headed to Mansfield with a changed line up but   still full of ambition and enthusiasm.
We welcome Paul onboard, making his debut.
It's fair to say that South started the slower of the 2 sides, they scored 2  early on. Then it all clicked...some great play across the pitch, all giving 100%, the juniors linking up impressively playing simple hockey conducted by the mystro Andy in midfield supported by the energetic Mark.
Hamza skillfully commanding the right side, with Arthur feeding from right back. Simple triangles with Arthur, Andy and Hamza starting to unlock their defence. On the left, Rhys was linking well with Fin up front. The paceman Ken making runs tirelessly. At the back Graham continued his pin point passing from left back. Knappet battling through with a knee injury as solid as ever and Craigs 'no nonsense' play provided great defense and midfield support. Simon remain focused throughout, making crucial saves and constantly guiding the defence.
So 2 nil down, South rallied with goals from Mark and Ken ( YES KEN). Ken received a knock to the jaw and came off briefly. Thankfully fit to continue ( although still talking about his hat trick??)...just bruised.  Paul had a great debut. After setting his sights in the first half got his well deserved goal in the second half. A brilliant move involving interplay with Rhys and Fin down the left, in the box for Paul to slot home.
Tbh we should have won this game. They did have one player who must have turned up to the wrong game. A drag flick goal from a short plus another to the top corner, rarely seen at this level.
Overall I am very proud of my team today. All put in a great shift. A good day.Well done all
