Match Report |
Snhc 3’s vs Mansfield 4’s
James Fields reports
Wow: 5-0 win
This was not against a depleted side who can’t play. This was a well matched game that needed all players to play to their strengths. They did. Several contenders for MOM and one for DOD (thanks) and only due to not converting.
We started well solid in defence, moving the ball quickly through midfield and clinical up front. The transitions were excellent and we kept them stretched most of the match. Before I recount the goals, special mention to the clean sheet and the defending that kept the opposition on the back foot and allowed the forwards the freedom to score. Goal number 1 (Hamza) collected a crisp pass just outsdide the D. Drive forward and jinked into space. Screams of SHOOOOOOT echoed around the park as he placed it to the left of the keeper from a yard inside the D. 2. (Paul) in the D and surrounded on receiving the ball. Wriggled free and past the keeper for his first of the match. The 3rd (Paul again) and still in the first half came after Mansfield had pushed back and were searching for a chance and this really put us in the ascendancy. Prior to this we had had a goal ruled out for some undefined reason but I had scored so no-one complained! Then an open goal on a tight angle was missed by someone.
The half time team talk was filled with expletives like pass! Alongside lots of positives regarding every single player.
When you are winning it hurts less. This was so true in the second half for the more mature players. Dick didn’t stop, Ken scored number 4 from a short of which we had had two previously but this one was actually injected properly. It was a rasping (I kid you not) drive from a foot inside the D across a stranded keeper! M4’s tried again and had quite a bit of action in our D searching for a consolation but to no avail and now south were adopting rapid counter attacks. Tony, dick, knappet and Graham were finding their clearances were being latched onto by Sam, Henry Rhys and Hamza who were using the from guys well and getting in for support. Hamza having made the pass of the match in the first half getting a few chances to increase his goal tally. Sam and Rhys also having goes. Finally Paul put the cherry on the cake with his hat trick as once again south powered into their D.
At the end we were not flattered by the score and they did not roll over. It was a great game to play in
