Match Report | Graham Johnson reports Boots 7s vs South Notts 3s South were somewhat out of sorts for much of the match, with the new formation, so successful in recent weeks, not working as well with some key players missing. Boots were threatening from the start and good passing between their midfield and forwards saw them repeatedly open up South’s defence. Despite some sterling stops from Simon they scored 2 goals. South rallied and a fine pass from Sam to Rhys in the D gave Rhys time to drill the ball into the corner – his first goal for South. However, Boots came back to get a third; 3-1 at half time. Boots continued to pressure in the second half and South had few chances to score again; a number of short corners came to nothing. South’s 16 yard hits rarely got through the Boots midfield, leading to further goals against. Arthur and Craig managed to get the ball up the wings but too rarely did South offer a real threat. Simon stopped a number of shots, the most notable being a cannon involving more balls than he would have wished. After a few minutes he was able to carry on but was still suffering – and probably still is. Boots scored on the final whistle making it 7-1 at the end. It was not our best performance but we know, given our performances in the last few weeks, that we can and will get back to winning ways. |
