South Nottingham 1’s [2v0] Boots 3’s

After having a short pre-season to try and get match ready for the oncoming season, South played boots in there final friendly and finished with a strong performance.

South began the game strongly with the absence of Stuart Mills and debutant JJ, with very few minutes on the clock south took the lead through Carlos from a fast counter attack from the front three, slotting the ball through the keepers legs, which he knows far to much about.

South began to take a firm hold on the game with the arrival of stu and JJ and was evident with long spells of possession, the back 4, Tom F, Tom P, Harry and Jim all played there part, with Harry making a great pick to save his brother from embarrassment and by showing there calmness and shifting the ball around the back before bringing the ball up the pitch, but with the first half brought to a close south had a small lead of 1-0.

Boots soon realised they would have to improve if they were going to make the game more competitive. So with the second half commencing they gained more possession and played higher up the pitch to try and snatch a quick goal, but with Matty and stu’s solid defence through the middle, Boots struggled to make any clear cut chances.

A second half for south saw many chances to take a bigger lead but struggled to get the ball in the net. Until Tommy C stepped up and from the top of the ‘D’ fired the ball into the corner through a slight deflection off an oppositions stick. 2-0 south.

The closing minutes saw lots of action around the boots goal but the stand out one was mike’s green card incident which consisted of him intentionally hitting the ball Into the boots keeper. Dick made an outstanding decision and Mike had to leave the field for the remainder of the game.

The game finished a 2-0 win to South and hopefully can be the anchor point for some more good performances in the oncoming season.
