South Nottingham 1's vs Chesterfield 2's

Match Report - 17/10/2020

Result - South Win 5-0

Going into the game South knew is wasn’t going to an easy day at the office with Chesterfield above in the table on goal difference. With both teams’ being able score lots of goals we knew it could be a high scoring game.

South’s defence knew that we needed to be strong at the back, after two weeks of the back line switching off and allowing the opposition to score. We decided to sit off and let them play. Some early good work from James Beedam, Tom Crossland and Matt Robbinson in the middle of the park joined by Tom Fletcher and Archie Heaney from full back and the normal strong Tom Pitsillos at centre back. After absorbing pressure, we had a break on and a well taken gaol again by James Turner (Carlos) 1-0. Once vice-captain Tom Crossland saw a way to exploit the Chesterfield back line with an ariel ball from the man mountain Tom Pitsillos to James Turner (Carlos) we won a long corner. A ball in from Robbo saw another gaol from Carlos 2-0. With some really good link up play from Gaz Bland and Archie Heaney’s on the left side saw us score a brilliant gaol by Tom Crossland 3-0. South saw it out and went into half time 4-0 up with another goal from Tom C.

Chesterfield must have had a going over at half time as they came out a different side in the second half, which saw some great battles along the way from everyone on the pitch which saw us keeping Chesterfield goalless, making it the potential first clean sheet of the season from the South defence, with some class saves from Sam Lane in goal.

Then new signing for the season James Beedam (JJ) got himself on the score sheet, with probably one of the slowest swings I’ve ever seen, he slotted it home, making it 5-0 South which was the final score of the game. Even though DOD Harry Lane tried to let them score by passing to Chesterfields centre forward. But one the upside South make it 3 wins from 3 in the league, putting them back at the top of the table. A special mentation for Sam Clough who played out of his skin for yet another week, so really good stuff from the youngster. Onto next week away to Beeston 5’s. Thanks to Dick and Ray for umpiring.
