Match report: a very strong Newark came to Bingham and got a match from South. For the first half of the first half their cohesion and waves of attack liked like we might be backs to the wall all game. They went 1:0 up. Some minor shape changes and we solidified Midfield with Robbie putting his hat in the ring alongside will for MOM. Some freedom on the left meant a short corner was forced by south and on the second run through Paul slotted home via a defenders foot. 1:1. Newark redoubled their efforts and were making good runs with Adam often stopping them, usually with his stick. No
further scorline excitement in that half. The second half was in similar vein but South did push for more. So did Ken with his first green in a 90 year hockey career. During his 2 mins they scored again. 2:1. It went to and fro for the rest of the half and either side could of added. South with several good moves especially Cole, Will and Robbie linking up. Paul putting pressure on dropping deep and running in. Just as it looked like it would end 2:1 to Newark Paul played into and ran past Ken. It was 2 in 1. A slip pass and Paul was 1 on 1 but Ken’s knees had other ideas the base for the pass want there and the ball was pushed passes the defender without the necessary force and line and the attack ended with the final whistle. Special praise to Tom who made some good stops in the back line. Well done all.
