Match Report

South 1s traveled to Nottingham hockey centre to play under the lights against promotion pushing Beeston 4s.

After the last few weeks south looked to start turning the second half of the season round and putting post Christmas games behind them. With a few tweaks to the line up South started well with some good periods of play. The first half flew by with both teams holding each other to a deadlock. Highlight of the first half was Big Tommy p clearing a short of the line as all expected the ball to hit the back board.

As the second half started so did the rain adding that extra pace to the water base. Again both teams had chances with some great keeping from Mark and solid defending from both back lines a special mention for the return of Big Brian at left back looked like you had never been away.

Unfortunately after a very scrappy 5 mins from both teams ex south player Tom put the only goal of the game in at the back post. Very unlucky after another superb save from Mark and some great defending from Tommy p. South kept pushing with JJ Harry and Fletch linking up well however it wasn’t to be another ex south player Pete keeping us at bay.

The game finished 1-0 despite a late effort which I should of put in going wide of the keepers RH post, which lead to myself being DOD and Mark MOM.

This was a great South performance against one of the strongest sides in the league so well played all.

Special mention for Mr Willey stepping in to give us a sub and Arthur for making his first debut, we’ll deserved.
