Match Report | South Notts 1s vs Boots 3s 1s against bottom of the table Boots, the start wasn’t helped by the delay of Tom P being stuck in traffic…even with the delay, the usual contingency still couldn’t make the start meaning Ellz and Mr Willey had to step into the starting lineup. The game started well with South enjoying some possession and containing any attacks from Boots, before Ellz rolled back the years with a Usain Bolt esc run through their midfield and defence (unfortunately that tired him out after 5 minutes) before laying the ball off for Nathan to round the keeper and slot in for 1-0. The half went quiet, South’s defence held strong from boots attacks, Doney constantly shouting from the back and commanding his defence, the ever present Tom P in the middle, Jim at left back and a great full debut for young Arthur at right back (look out Fletch!..) A flurry of attacks from South before half time saw them win a couple of short corners, unfortunately nothing came from the first, but the second saw Robbo inject the ball close to Harry who saw his shot hit the back board, 2-0 going into half time to South. After a half time talk Tom C switched up the formation from a 4-3-3 to a 4-4-2 and the game was going South’s way and could have been 3-0 if Nathan didn’t take himself out trying to play the ball with his nose after a square ball from Harry!.. South kept pushing and a hopeful ball fired towards the D saw a lucky deflection, sorry a great touch from Harry, to see the ball end up in the bottom corner. The game went quiet with South conceding a few shorts, a mix between Robbo complaining about having a cold *cough cough… Millsy running circles round the middle and Will Honey seeing himself playing centre back and centre mid through the game, a final push in the last eight minutes saw a flurry of goals, first Nathan managing to put away a ball put across the D to him, before a minute later laying the ball off across the top of the D after hearing a shout from Tom C, 5-0… Nathan was too busy on the side line talking to his Mum and her Dogs to see the Boots goal! South were far from their best, but did enough to see the final score 5-1 to South…onto a tough last three games MOM - Arthur DOD - Nathan |
