Match Report

A strange and a little slow start to the game, We soon however started to set the scene, and we were back to where we left off last year and started to put the pressure on.

The 1st goal came after a body in the way on the line, a Batty “Hedgehog” Finish after a pass from Stuart ‘Grozzy’ Croston at top of D from shorty, Ended as a Penalty stroke slotted neatly into the corner!

Goal 2 followed shortly after when Grozzy slid Elliott ’Ellz’ Dixon through to bundle a snail trickle finish under the advancing keeper (a rekindling romance).

Goal 3 came in the form of Brian Blackmore thunderbolt from another shorty, leaving the keeper wondering if he in fact needed to go to spec savers! A welcome half time to rethink our strategy and simplify the way we were playing as we really were making it hard for ourselves.

In the second half we played a very different game and reality set in that we were playing a good team but this is where the old romance really started to continue to build. Goal 4 was down left channel from Craig Bingham to Grozzy, who drilled a cross to Ellz in D to walk past the keeper and reinforce our strength. The relationship of our front pairing was to blossom further with some amazing play, synchronisation and rhythmic movement that left the oppo’s defenders wondering what they had gotten themselves in to. Grozzy finishing a multiple 1-2 move with his compadre Ellz after intercepting with a high press in the Oppo 25. Goal 6 continued in the same way with a Grozzy finish on the p spot after another 1-2 move at a shorty from a slip right to Ellz.

All in all a good result.

A special mention to the two Will’s - Will Roberts and Will Bingham who both had a great game and kept the legs moving throughout, some great play and looking forward to seeing these lads develop over the coming weeks.

A friendly, but a good 6-0 win.
