Ladies 1st XI Vs North Notts. 4 Development

The first match of the season kicked off with a strong squad of 14 players. The sun was shining and players buzzing for the upcoming season. 

South started strongly against North Notts keeping the pressure on from the offset. Evie kicked off the scoring with the first goal, which was followed by another two goals.

 4-0 up at half time we had some words of wisdom from Brainz about the pace of passing and decided we would use the second half to commit to decisions and put some power behind the ball. The ladies took this advice on board and managed to score another 7 goals, Evie getting 6 in total, 1 from Ruby, Becky (from defence), Rachael, Gemma and Emma. 

11-0 up and south did relax a little bit too much. Allowing North Notts to break, Eleanor lost her balance and took an Indiana jones style diving fall and roll out. At the same time Jo, who stepped up to help out on goal, had got distracted tidying the face masks away when she looked up she had 20 players running towards her, she had a face mask stuck to her stick and she stepped too far back falling into the net of goal giving out a squeal for help. Luckily the rest of the team stepped in and scooped the ball and all the players back to the other side of the pitch.

Defence did a great job and practising passing round the back and calling for the pass back. 

Midfield did great pressing on the ball and all stuck to their positions well. 

Forwards mastered the short corners and being in the right place at the right time. 

MAN OF THE MATCH - Evie Bates , Evie played the best game she has ever played and scored 6 cracking goals. 

North Notts had lots of young players who played their first ever match. Lots of potential from the team we wish them the best for the rest of their season.
