Match Report | The planned opposition from Newark Ladies could not raise a side, so the South Nottm Ladies used the opportunity for those present to play internally, full 70 minutes time, with 6 a side match on a full-size pitch. This helped improve match fitness, too. Captain Eleanor Wallace welcomed four new club members, Sophie Atkinson, Rose Cartwright, Alex McCusker-Stevenson and Laura Turner. Wonderful and impressive additions to the squad. Coach Euan Temple said afterwards that he did not know the effect that they would have on opponents, but he found that their excellent team talents were really scary! Everyone knew the skills and possible weaknesses of most of their internal club opponents on the day and there were many interesting, but fair, tussles, with final honours about even. Any perceived weaknesses were identified and taken advantage of in the early stages, but by the end these had been corrected and every player was firing on all cylinders. Certain team tactics were tried out and refined and the 70 minutes play was put to really good use. A number of spectators had arrived to watch the ‘Local Derby’ match v Newark but stayed to be impressed by the formidable talents and skills on display by the South Nottm Ladies Team. |
