Match Report

With Belper sitting one point below us in the table, South knew they had a tough game, in which they couldn’t afford to drop points.

With a short and sweet warmup the game began with both teams having equally as many chances as the other, yet neither team managing to put one of the chances away, Mark Doney making some amazing saves in the first half and arguably keeping south in the game until half time.

With a motivating team talk from skipper Will and JJ quickly putting South back on there feet, Dan T ran into the box ripping through the Belper defence passing it to Fin C to put a pass onto Sam C to slot it past the stranded keeper. Goals came quick for South as we continued to dominate the run of play leading to another 2 quick goals 1 from JJ’s pass to Dan T on the back post to slot it in with the handle of his stick and a pass from Nathan G for Fin C to slot it past the keeper. South yet again continued to dominate with no ball or pass being able to get past Matty and Will and the constant work rate up and down the wings making the play and stopping counter attacks from the Henry and Arthur, looking like Liverpool's 2019 defence.

Another goal came South’s way as Nathan G sprinted into the box to receive a beautiful pass from Henry as he ran down the wing and cut in with Nathan smashing it home. Belper had some decisions go their way,  got some support from the parents on the side and managed to win one back with a flick as Will thought he was playing football. South quickly replied with JJ, Nathan and Fin bossing the midfield and the defence not letting a single thing past them; with Mike weaving in and out made work for the Belper defence . South’s final goal came from a long ball from Sam to Mike just to be perfectly slotted into the corner past the GK

A brilliant second half performance from everyone and maybe the most dominant display; everyone played brilliantly leaving everything on that pitch.  No doubt we deserved to win.
