SNHC vs NTU 3XI

South faced a second placed uni team on the final weekend of the season. A strong squad was lined up to try and take 3 points from NTU. The game started with NTU sitting back and absorbing the South early pressure. The ball was being recycled around the back well, teasing the NTU attackers to break formation. This led to some intricate attacking play allowing Harry Beedham to slot in the opener breaking the deadlock. NTU kept solid in their formation and were dangerous on the break. The route one aerial was a strong weapon with them throwing balls behind the South defence. Good movement from Finlay Collins and Sam Clough opened up the NTU defence for Harry to add a second. A weak NTU defence allowed Mike Shapland to finish a nice move and put South 3-0 up at half time.

NTU came back into the game in the early stages of the second half. Some great attacking play allowed them to carve open the South defence and finish 2 lovely goals. South were on the ropes, but a clinical Tom Crossland finish kept the advantage in South’s favour. The last 10mins of the game were scrappy with both sides trying desperately to keep control of the Poseidon and the game. Then final whistle went and it was South taking home all 3 points on the final day.
