Match Report

South Nottingham came up against a strong Boots 5’s - equal exchanges throughout the first few minutes.  South were thankful for the astounding performance from Keeper Alex Heron,  plus a save on the line from Batty from a short corner strike.

The back line of Brian Blackmore, James Brydon, Andy Wallace plus young Tom Cross and Craig Lawson held firm! As the strength of South’s game increased, so did the opposition - however, they couldn’t stop a short corner strike from captain Stuart ‘Grozzy’ Croston into the corner of the goal!  1-0 South.

Plenty of heroic work in the middle of the park from Craig ‘bingo’ Bingham who sadly had to pull up due to and injury – hoping for a quick recovery!

Grozzy continued the scoring with a nice link up and with the returning Adam ‘Sharpie’ Sharpe,  great return and phenomenal impact on the team, Grozzy a smashed 1st timer into the goal, making it 2-0. With the defence still holding firm, Batty now pushed forward, excited from last week’s goals, he found himself at the top of the D looking to strike, but instead slipped it to a waiting Elliot ‘Ellz’ Dixon to neatly pop the ball into an open net 3-0 south!

With pressure from Boots late in the game, the ever present Tom Cross and Andy Wallace making some crucial tackles, we held on for a superb 3-0 victory.

Great performances across the pitch, including the tireless running of Sam McNeil and a baptism of fire for the new recruit James Murgett; good hard match to come into the mighty 3’s on!

And a fabulous all round team performance!

Thanks to Dick & Mark W for umpiring a very controlled, good spirited match!

Onwards to Belper away next week!

2-0 - Grozzy (FG - Asst. Sharpie)
