Match Report | Leicester Westleigh 3’s Vs South Nottm 3’s After securing the title last week, South travelled down the A46 to Leicester to take on mid-table Westleigh with a much changed side looking to extend the winning streak to 15 games. A tough encounter ensued, with a number of robust challenges flying in throughout the game. South took the lead through Gary Pickering, who slotted in a neat reverse following consistent South pressure. 0-1. Leicester's will to win was evident and they forced themselves back into the match from close range. 1-1. Half time arrived, South’s sages tried to figure out a plan as the hosts were starting to boss the match. A 50/50 challenge in the centre of the park went the way of Westleigh and the ball was quickly in the back of the South net after some swift play down the right from their most skilful player. 2-1. South were becoming more frustrated with the state of play and started losing shape in an attempt to force a way back into the game. South relinquished possession in their own D and were made to pay. 3-1. Grozzy tried to get the troops back up and fighting and pulled one back when Gary slid a pass into the D for the skipper to slot in to continue his run of scoring in every match this season. 3-2. South threw the kitchen sink at Westleigh but were hit again on the break as they overloaded up the pitch. 4-2. More missed chances came and went for both sides and a last gasp PC from South was kept out as the final whistle blew. A frustrating defeat for the Champions but nice to see the future of the club is in good hands with youngsters Tom Cross, Adam Board and Will Roberts all putting in great performances. |
