South 4"s arrived in Kirkby in Ashfield with a mix of youth and experience to play their first league match since the re-firmation if the team. They met an experienced Mansfield 4"s. South started brightly taking the okay to Mansfield in the first 10 minutes showing some real enterprise in the attacking quarter through Cole, Stan and Owain. Surging runs from James and Dan provided early hope. However Mansfield grew into the game and scored two quick goals from open okay. Half time 2 - 0. A stern talk from on field captain Ken and the second half started with strong tackling from Tom C and Adam B. Mansfield continued to press forward and more goals arrived despite some great keeping and saves from Thomas B. Final score 7 - 0 but a really promising start with fantastic effort from all.
