Match Report | A lovely nocturnal trip up to the picturesque town of Belper, the fourth team played Belper 7s. The game was played to an impasse at 0:0 to half-time. It looked increasingly likely that a 0:0 draw was beckoning but some time into the second half, Belper scored. Play continued from end to end and South won a penalty corner - injected to Ken Shapland by James Fildes. Ken received the ball and, as planned, passed it left to onrushing Paul Hollingworth who converted it 1:1. That’s how it remained for all it the last two minutes of the game when Belper scored again. There were some good performances from some South players and on a different day, several more goals could have resulted from some tantalising balls into dangerous areas. |
