Men's 4th XI Vs Nottingham 4 Development

Match report:  South notts v Nott 4s

South entertained Nottm 4s in what turned out to be a 9 goal affair. Both teams started well with play going end to end, early attacks from Nottm 4s were stopped with great defending from both Graham Morgan and Graham Johnson, equally Norman and Greg performed well linking up with Dan on the right. However, it was the away side who struck first after 15 mins and quickly followed up with another two goals to go 3 in front.

South  started to string some passes together and both James and Will driving forward started to create space for Cole and Dan to hit balls to the forwards where Ken and Stan were working hard.  Despite all the effort it was the away side who netted their 4th goal with a well taken short corner. South pulled one back just before half time after great work from Dan who fed Ken who, in turn, slipped a neat pass for Paul to push past the keeper to make it 1-4 at the break.  

The second half started the same as the first with end to end play; again it was the away side who scored first, despite all his efforts James F, in goal, couldn't stop them going 1-5 up. South again started to go through the gears and attack in force throughout the team, creating a number of chances for all forwards, Stan came  close to opening his account, just a goal line clearence that prevented his first goal for South; with the positions that he takes up the goal will come.  Attacks continued and a great through ball from Will found Paul  who struck first time from the edge of the area to score his second of the  game. South were in control at this point, forcing several short and long corners, although against the run of play the away side hit south with a 6th goal. Heads did not drop and once again the home side mounted pressure, Capt Tony releasing balls to both wings to start attacks firing into the D where Paul completed his hattrick at the far post.  A great display from the whole team. A lot of positives to be taken when one of their defenders said we deserved a lot more.
