Men's 4th XI Vs Mansfield 5

Match Report:  South Nottm  v Mansfield 

Last game of the season saw an end to end game from start to finish. Both teams had chances in the opening 20 mins with each keeper keeping the strikers at bay. A lot of effort was given by all in the first half, defence holding strong for most part and some great distribution from the back 4 with Greg C tackling well and hitting some strong bals ot from the back. As much as South was trying to create it was Mansfield who struck first to go 0-1 in front. Towards the end of the first half South had several chances, Paul linking up well with James who managed to get past the keeper only to see his effort run across the goal line and Paul not being able to reach at the far post.  James did think he was on a high...high being very apt as he tried a very difficult reverse lift over the keeper - think the ball finished in the car park (!); both Paul and Ken are still waiting for the simple pass.

The second half continued with end to end action, Fraser and Cole offering good link up play and with great runs from Norm and Dan; chances were being forced and Mansfield had to defend in numbers as shots from both Paul and Ken were denied. However South did manage to equalise after great link up play from the forwards to set up Dan to flick the ball high past the keeper to make it 1-1.  ( James - that's how you do it.)  Some solid defending from Simon, Graham M, Graham J and Tony kept the visitors out to finish South 1-1 Mansfield.

Paul is awarding himself 10.0  10.0  10.0  10.0  for his embarrassing slip with no other player around him; great ball from Graham J though.

Great effort by all to finish 6th in the table. A special thank you to Tony and Ken for all their hard work over the season.
