4s match report:

South 4s travelled to Worksop to play a rearranged fixture.  A pretty strong South side were up against some solid Worksop players. After the first ten minutes when south were unable to penetrate into the opposition’s half, our defenders started to play the ball to the midfielders and on to the forwards. This was repeated many times during the match and the two Adams, Board and Hopewell, and Graham Morgan linked up brilliantly with Dan Pearson who repeatedly blasted great balls into the opposition’s D.

The pressure put on the Worksop defenders by Stan Jackson and Ken Shapland created many opportunities but none paid off until a penalty corner was awarded to south. Norman Buttery took charge of  the first of many penalty corner injections. No goal resulted from this first corner.

South had multiple chances throughout the game and we witnessed some composed skills from Simon Recaldin when kicking the ball to Greg Cadman for him to pass it on to Tony Ellis who in turn sent the ball accurately up the pitch. This excellence was repeated on many more occasions during the game.

Many opportunities for Ken Shapland, Stan Jackson and Craig Lawson came and went unrewarded but Craig soon had another opportunity. This time there was no debate, he dispatched it into their goal to make the final score 2:1 to the hosts.

The number of chances provided by the midfielders, including by Cole Cadman who has started to pass earlier, was by far the highest of the season and a win looked possible - on another day several more goals would have resulted. Improvements in the team are being seen game on game which is great to witness.
