Match Report

On a lovely winters day and roared on by a massive partisan crowd of 5 mainly made up of the Jones clan being dragged out to watch me play to prove that I was indeed scoring goals and not making it up.

South got up and running with our trademark quick start to games. A turnover of play by myself and a quick ball to captain fantastic who smashed the ball across the D for an easy goal for Grozzy to convert 1-0.

Unlike many teams we’ve faced this season after our quick opening goal Belper didnt fall apart…….but my astros did, earning me the right to write this weeks report. By total coincidence and me off the pitch having running repairs done on the shoes South got back to scoring quick goals again. This time Grozzy and Alex reversing roles with a ball leathered into the D and a deft touch from Alex steering it past the keeper to make it 2-0. Our next attack brought our next goal with Willey this time supporting down the right and nailing a ball into the D again and Alex once again getting a nick that Jacques Kallis would be proud of and diverting past the GK to make it 3-0 and south on a roll.

Number 4 followed after we might have stumbled across a new PC routine, the ball finding its way Batty at the back stick to muster every bit of agility he has to turn on a six pence and slot past a bewildered defence and GK. 4-0.

Belper scored a poor goal. 4-1.

Some quick interchange of passes on the edge of the Belper D and Ellz had set me clean through but much like a jigsaw I fell to pieces in the box and could only pea roll a shot at the keeper. Not to worry Ellz was quick on the rebound flicking into the far corner and making it 5-1.

Second half started and South made some tactical tweaks when we agreed at half time the Belper team had either seen to many winters or maybe not enough with a mix of old and youth in their team and were there for the taking looking for another double digit win!

Gary must of thought he was Moses as he advanced with the ball and the Belper defence parting like the Red Sea to allow him a clean strike on goal and drilling it into the bottom corner giving the keeper no chance. 6-1 and We were running rings round Belper at this stage.

Another quick attack saw me pick the ball up wide in the D and taking inspiration from Batty in the first half and thinking the first time was so nice we had to do it twice! Also turned on a six pence and placed the ball into the bottom corner making the game well out of reach at 7-1.

Constant attacks were coming now from South and Belper sat deeper and deeper. Our final attack ended in a sloppy goal with the ball rolling itself to me to flick into an empty net finishing off a good performance from the table toppers and ending the scoring at 8-1.

Another game down, another 3 points and another bucket load of goals. This is what we do lads and we kept the goal alive of winning every game this season and winning this league!
