Match Report

Following last week’s solid 6-0 win away at 3rd place Barton, the league leaders hosted bottom club Derwent looking to continue our 100% winning record.. Confident of repeating the 10-0 away win against today’s opponents, South arrived at a bright but chilly Bingham ready to get down to business - it proved to be a chastening experience for the visitors…

The first half saw South smash 7 unanswered goals, including a hat-trick of PC drag flicks for the in form skipper Alex Cavan, the rest of the goals a mix of incredible team passing and movement along with great finishing from Alex Jones, Stevie Waters and James Bellamy - the same couldn’t be said for the usually reliant Grozzy who seemed to be in “Hit the keeper” mode.. One of those shots did rebound off the out rushing keeper for the skipper to pop in to an empty net, so an assist was claimed..

Half time team talk requested more of the same from the home side, with GK Tommy a little disappointed at the poor goal difference South have shown so far this season

Seconds after the restart, South piled into the D again, Jonesy shooting inches wide from distance, only for Dan T to appear Grozzy-esque at the back post to tip in for the 8th goal of the match.  The melee continued as Ellz missed a tight chance and brought himself off - Grozzy returned to the action and earned himself DoD for fluffing a bouncy tap in from a Stevie square pass! Argh!! Shortly after this, he managed to slightly redeem himself as he latched onto a delicious through ball and finished a running flick into top bins from a tough angle.

Derwent somehow managed to get one on the board from the tightest of finishes from a PC routine.

More goals from South (Dan & Jonesy) rifled in the following minutes before Jonesy went on a wobble and walked through the entire Derwent defence and popped in a lovely solo effort for his hat-trick, Cav & Stevie combined with some beautiful passing, 1-2ing their way through to a simple finish for Stevie.

Grozzy turned provider for Dan T to secure his own hat-trick moments before the end, leading to and incredible final score of 15-1!

The defence of Batty, Brian, Ben & Adam were barely tested leaving Tommy to resemble a human ice pop in goal  any Derwent attacks were thwarted and they fed the South midfield of Gary, Dan T, Stevie & Jonesy supported by sub James B who made it a fairly simple task to link up with the front line of Cav, Grozzy and sub Ellz to make the day a successful outing, maintaining the 12 wins from 12 matches 100% record and increase the goal difference to a frankly ridiculous +76.
