Match Report

On a lovely sunny ish Saturday afternoon South welcomed Mansfield  for what could turn out to be an interesting game looking at Mansfield’s last few results .
The game starts and this didn’t really transpire, with south bossing pretty much every area of the pitch as after only 2 minutes Grozzy opened the scoring 1-0 south.
South now had a grip of the game and after wave upon wave of south attacks Gary  put away a lovely reverse shot past the keeper on the 13th minute, 2-0 south.
Then the flood gates opened with Max getting in on a short corner guiding a high ball in to the net. 3-0 south.
In what seemed like seconds Gary was at the top of the D again 4-0 south. This then woke up south’s very own goal machine,Alex C who with a lovely reverse shot past Mansfield’s bewildered keeper. south 5-0.
Mansfield did have the odd attack that was snubbed out by the wall at the back starting with Tommy in goal, Adam b, Ben w, Leon and a returning south legend Smurf. In the middle was Alex j making friends as usual.
The attack  from south just kept coming and resulted in a penalty corner that Alex flicked neatly off the rib cage of the on coming defender and into the back of the net 6-0.  The half was finished off with a little reverse roll under the keeper by Ellz 7-0.

With a very relaxed team talk and some jelly babies we were back on it.
Mansfield now seemed to be sitting very deep and chances came and went until Grozzy presented Ellz with a beauty of a cross that in front of an open goal he completely messed up and with a lovely waft missed the ball which ended up with Ells doing the match report.
Shortly after this with a lovely old school team goal Ellz redeemed a little piece of self respect and slotted it away with a little reverse dink. 8-0 and that’s how the game ended.

The 2s now are on a 19 games winning stream and have not only been promoted but are champions as well.
On to Derby next weekend!!!

A special thank you to Batty and Simon for umpiring
