Celebrations are being planned for not one but three championships at the final games of the season this Saturday.
The Mens 1st Team are runaway Champions of the East Midlands Premier Division and are promoted to the Midlands Div 1 next year. Captained this season by Pete Hextall, the team remain undefeated having scored 139 goals so far in 19 matches! Adam Innocent is currently joint second top goalscorer for the division and in the top 5 goalscorers for the whole of the Midlands league– with 38 goals to his credit.
The final match will be played at home against Boots at 1.30pm at Bingham on Sat 27 March
The Mens 2nd Team are Champions Elect of the East Mids Div 1 in the 2nd Team League of the Midlands Regional Hockey Association ( MRHA) With one game remaining, they are 3 points clear of nearest rivals Kettering and they have a substantially better goal difference. Their final match is away on Saturday to Sikh Union ( Nottingham) who are rooted firmly at the foot of the division
The Mens 3rd Team are already crowned Champions of their East Mids Div 1 in the 3rd Team League of the MRHA. They have been captained this season by Club Chairman Jon Lane who has also captained the 1st and 2nd teams during his playing career. Their final game is at home against Melton on Saturday at Bingham at 3pm
The Ladies 1st team have also had a good season and have firmly established themselves in the Notts Womens Hockey League Premier Division having gained promotion last year. Alison Glazebrook is retiring after 18 years playing for the club. She was a founder member of the Ladies team.
The Club’s Annual Dinner and Awards Night will be held on Sat 24 April at the Park Inn, Nottingham
The Club’s Annual Tournament will be held on grass at Caythorpe Cricket Club on Saturday 10th April ( mens and ladies) and Sunday 11 April ( mixed). Participants warmly welcome – see website for details. www.southnottinghamhockeyclub.co.uk
